Why premarital counseling?

Congratulations on your engagement! Now it’s time to taste cakes, try on clothes, choose invitations, flowers… and also start premarital counseling.

Weddings often involve family relationships. For example, who should we invite? Who can sit next to difficult Uncle Jim? Do my partner and I agree about what kind of wedding we’d like to have? Marriages, however, involve communication about money, sex, life goals, children, traditions, how to negotiate rough patches, etc.

I am here to help you prepare for not only your wedding but also your healthy, happy, resilient marriage.

Before your big day

I meet with you for an initial session before enrolling you in the Prepare-Enrich program. I will send you a link to a detailed questionnaire that will help us determine your strengths and areas of growth as a couple. After that, we meet for between 6 and 10 weeks to have meaningful conversations and take part in skill building exercises. My goal is to ensure your union is secure and weather-proofed, by giving you relationship tools, insights and skills. This is fun!
