Insurance and Fees
Do I take your insurance?
Maybe. Are you choosing your therapist based on who takes your insurance? If so, please keep reading before you decide.
Confidentiality and Permanent Record
All insurance companies require some personal information to process a claim, including a mental health diagnosis. Once clinical information is provided to the company it becomes part of your permanent record, available to anyone with authorized access such as a future employer. This could also affect your ability to buy private medical coverage in the future as past mental health diagnoses and treatment might be considered a pre-existing condition.
If you choose to pay for your sessions yourself, you can decide how many sessions you’d like and I can protect your privacy and base treatment on your individual needs, not the financial wishes of the insurance companies. Please see Frequently Asked Questions for more information about privacy.
Using Coverage anyway
If you would still like to use your insurance, I am an in-network provider with the following companies:
I will verify your mental health coverage prior to your first session and will let you know what I find out. To do so, I will need the following information:
- Your Insurance company
- The customer service number on the back of the card
- Your member and group IDs
- Your (and the main subscriber’s) birthdays
Out of Network
I am out of network with all other insurance companies. Many clients are able to utilize their out-of-network benefits for counseling services and get reimbursed by their insurance company. I will provide you with a copy of a superbill which you can submit for possible reimbursement. I also encourage you to verify your out-of-network benefits prior to your session. If you have access to HRA/FSA/HSA funds, I accept those funds as forms of payment. My full fee is due from you on the day of our appointment.
Please note that benefits are an agreement between you and your insurance company. I cannot guarantee any coverage or reimbursement. If you have eligibility concerns or questions, you should contact your insurance provider directly.
